Randy and Lockett

What does "Family Life" mean to you?
“Family Life” is the most important part of our lives. A strong and loving home means everything. A family provides support and love so that children may blossom into responsible and loving adults. It is the foundation to a promising future.

Describe your childhood:
Adoptive Mom? I have great memories of my childhood. It was filled with family, friends, sports and lots of reading. Education was always a priority! My grandparents all lived close which gave me an added sense of love and security. We spent “fun time” traveling and enjoying the outdoors. Adoptive Dad? I had a good childhood growing up with my parents and two older brothers. My brothers and my parents were always there for me and still are to this day. We spent summers going to church camp and participating in the Boy Scouts. We took weekend trips to our grandparents' home and spent our holidays there too.

Tell us about your home?
Our home is a warm and happy place!

When you have a 3-day weekend, what do you like to do?
Most of the time we spend our long weekends with family or friends. Our friends like to come here to visit as we have a four-bedroom house so there is room for everyone. We cook, play games, and laugh a lot!

Do you have pets? If so tell us about them?
Dutch is a ten pound papillon. He is white with brown ears, a brown patch over one eye and freckles on his nose. He is responsible for guarding the house and greeting visitors. He loves to play and give kisses, and he enjoys a good nap!

What is your favorite food?
Mexican food and anything grilled.

What do you hope to teach your children?
To be the best they can be while still being humble. To be honest, caring, compassionate, and thoughtful of others. To find purpose in life and live it to the fullest.

Do you play any musical instruments?
Unfortunately, no. However, we will always encourage music.

Describe your neighborhood?
We love our neighborhood! It is a gated community that is beautifully landscaped and has playgrounds, two pools and tennis courts. There are lots of children, bicycles and families. The neighborhood always has activities for the kids on the holidays such as a Fourth of July parade and a Halloween party in the fall.

Share something about your spouse that only you know:
Adoptive Mom? If I make it for him, Randy will take a bubble bath if he is really tired. Adoptive Dad? Lockett is cautious with money and does not waste it.

Describe the last romantic thing you did together?
We went to a bed and breakfast, and explored and ate delicious food. It was wonderful!

What will you tell your child about their birthmother?
That she loved them very much! And, she made a difficult and brave decision to provide them with a promising future.

It's Daddy's day - what activity do you want to share with your child?
Whatever the child wants to do.

Do you plan on sharing with your child what their birth parents were like?
Yes, if possible.

What kind of education are you hoping to provide for your child - Private or Public?
We are hoping to do both.

How did you come to the decision of adoption?
We decided to adopt when we realized that our life together was good but there was something missing. We want a little one to share our lives and love with.

What faith will you raise your child?
Protestant. Faith has always been important to us.

How will you help your child accomplish their dreams?
Prepare them the best we can and encourage their strengths.

What kind of a relationship do you hope to build with your birthmom through her pregnancy?
Whatever she is comfortable with.

How did you meet?
We met through mutual friends at a going away party.

What was your relationship with your parents like?
We both have good relationships with our parents. We love them and enjoy their company.

What attracted you to each other?
Personality and a sense of humor.

Please describe your personalities:
Adoptive Mom? Very loving and giving with a good sense of humor. Adoptive Dad? Gregarious, down to earth, hard working and somewhat picky.

What are your hobbies (please share those you enjoy as individuals and those you enjoy as a couple):
Adoptive Mom? Cooking, tennis, reading and we both like to travel. We also enjoy seeing a good play! Adoptive Dad? Basketball, working out at the end of the day and walking the dog. Watching football and snow skiing are our favorites!

When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms what are your thoughts regarding the birthmother?
Thank you for this gift.

How will a child enrich your life?
A child will complete our home by their smile, laughter, and giving us someone to be young with.

Why did you each choose the career path you decided on?
Adoptive Mom? I worked with my family for years in an equipment rental business. We sold the business a few years ago and I have been taking care of the house, investments, and enjoying my friends and hobbies. Adoptive Dad? I enjoy the printing business because it’s interesting, challenging, and a necessity of almost every type of business.

What makes a birthmom special?
Her love for her baby.
