What does "Family Life" mean to you?
K- Happiness, sharing time, making memories, growing and learning together, and embracing faith, love and hope. C- Waking with a smile and going to bed with a smile, sharing my life and my love for a balanced home life.
Describe your childhood:
K- Fond memories of walking to school, playing soccer, racquetball and swimming. Activities full of family and friends, special memories on Mama’s farm, camping vacation and waterskiing at the lake. C- Lots of love and support, family get-togethers, wonderful grandparents, swim meets and camping trips.
Tell us about your home?
It is a beautiful home overlooking the foothills in a quiet neighborhood (not to be cliché’). We have a white picket fenced-in backyard complete with swings and slides. It is a two-story home with lots of room to play, love and grow a family.
When you have a 3-day weekend, what do you like to do?
The jury is out and it is unanimous! We love to get out with our camper and do something that involves getting outdoors! Fishing, hiking and relaxing.
Do you have pets? If so tell us about them?
Yes, boy do we! We have two dogs and three cats. We have a white German Shepard that adores children and babies, her name is Marshmallow. Rock, our little dog is half Miniature Pinscher and half Pomeranian. Then there is Bosco our silver Tabby who is our son’s little buddy that loves to be carried around the house, Jasmine our Calico who is a little overweight and sometimes shy, and last but not least, Aldar our gentle Manx that is all love. The dogs will sometimes go camping with us and we even had a stow-away once, Bosco decided to come along for the trip-he loved it!
What is your favorite food?
K- Depends on where I am...at the beach it is seafood and at home it is grilled chicken, steaks, burgers and hotdogs. I love all Mexican anywhere and I never pass on a good pizza. C- Good burger, sushi, Mexican food-there is really not much food I have met that I did not like.
What do you hope to teach your children?
K- Be kind to others, understand others’ differences and situations, listen to what others have to say, be courteous, love others, and tell the truth gracefully. I want them to get the best education we can provide, and to acquire a well-rounded understanding of life’s challenges, all in a Christian environment. C- Honesty, respect, love and understanding, an appreciation of life and the environment, the importance of God, the importance of taking the time to hear others’ words, to speak their mind with gentleness, and to follow and believe in God’s will.
Do you play any musical instruments?
Neither one of us does but we both hope to learn.
Describe your neighborhood?
A quiet cul-de-sac with friendly and engaging neighbors, manicured lawns, sledding down the hill with the neighbors in winter, not unusual to catch three neighbors at a time on their riding mowers cutting the grass, sharing homegrown tomatoes with the our next door neighbor and cul-de-sac cookouts!
Share something about your spouse that only you know:
K- She gets nervous in front of people she first meets but you would never know because she carries herself so well. C- He will shed a tear for another’s loss, tragedy and triumph….I love that.
Describe the last romantic thing you did together?
To celebrate our anniversary we went to a Shaker Village and stayed in a two-story farmer’s house set in the 1800’s authentic style. We had fine dining, sat by the fire and took walks in the field….we were one of two couples there!
What will you tell your child about their birthmother?
As we go through the “process” we are creating a book or journal to share our feelings, our first meeting with the birthmother and the stories she shares with us. This journal will be something we share with this child as she grows, and most of all, we will be sure our child knows that the birthmother’s unselfish decision was full of love.
It's Daddy's day - what activity do you want to share with your child?
Go on adventure walks, walks by the lake, see a good child’s movie, visit the zoo, go fishing at the pond, play with toys, have giggle fests and enjoy each other’s company.
Do you plan on sharing with your child what their birth parents were like?
Everything we know we will share when the time is right.
What kind of education are you hoping to provide for your child - Private or Public?
Public for elementary and we have many great private high schools to choose from. The local schools in the area are fantastic!
How did you come to the decision of adoption?
We cannot conceive naturally and we all want to add to our family a much wanted baby.
What faith will you raise your child?
Christian; we have a great church with a loving and approachable pastor and fabulous child, youth and teen ministries.
How will you help your child accomplish their dreams?
From the best education and parental involvement all the way, to words of wisdom and hugs and kisses when the going gets tough and of course showing them the faith, hope and love that a trust in God brings.
What kind of a relationship do you hope to build with your birthmom through her pregnancy?
We hope to be supportive, understanding and open to her needs.
How did you meet?
Through a mutual friend and we have been inseparable ever since.
What was your relationship with your parents like?
K- Open, honest, fun, supportive and involved. C- Loving, supportive and fun.
What attracted you to each other?
K- Physical attraction, common interests, personality, and similar goals. C- He is handsome, and has a gentle nature, sweet smile, kind blue eyes, and a yearning for life like mine.

K- Dedicated, fun, funny, full of life, sweet, honest, romantic, adventuresome, loving and loyal.
C- Patient, kind, friendly, gentle, sincere, resilient, optimistic, loving, adventuresome and true.
What are your hobbies (please share those you enjoy as individuals and those you enjoy as a couple):
K- Archery, hiking, fishing, photography and landscape gardening. C- Running, working out, reading, cooking baking. Us- Camping, hiking trails, movie time, time with friends and family, adventures at the farm… anything outdoors as a family-that’s what we look forward to doing.
When you close your eyes and see yourself holding your precious baby in your arms what are your thoughts regarding the birthmother?
I am grateful. She is an angel and a miracle, as is the baby. She is a ray of light in our life and such a blessing to us.
How will a child enrich your life?
By adding to our family, by giving a sibling to our son, by sharing our life and making it brighter.
Why did you each choose the career path you decided on?
K- Got into retail by accident, fell in love with it and excelled in every aspect of it. C- Children are so full of positive energy and I enjoy the freshness of each day that I work in the nursery.
What makes a birthmom special?
Our paths will cross and it is God who will decide and guide us. She will be chosen by God and we will be chosen by her. She is filled with love and courage for giving such a precious gift so graciously and generously.
