You choose the family you want your baby to go to. You meet them and get to know them if you want If you don’t want to have much contact the familes go through an adoption homestudy process done by the state they live in. This includes assessments od their marital stability, financial situation, lifestyle, and medical history. Fingerprints are taken to make sure there is no record of criminal activity or child abuse. There home is also inspected.
